The brief
A family with several hours of power cuts a day in summer, whose water pump and fridge had been damaged. The main goal was keeping essentials running through cuts, with lowering the bill second. The air conditioner was deliberately left off the backup supply to keep the battery a sensible size.
How it was done
- 01 Essential loads listed and their real consumption measured over a full day
- 02 Array sized allowing for Rasht’s cloudy days, not a single sunny day’s output
- 03 Pitched roof structure checked and galvanised mounts installed with sealed fixing points
- 04 Essential circuits separated onto a sub-board fed from the inverter’s backup output
- 05 Changeover and anti-islanding protection installed, with surge arrestors on both DC and AC sides
- 06 Tested by deliberately cutting the grid supply and recording backup time under real load
The outcome
Through later cuts the essentials stayed on without interruption, and surges on restore no longer reach the appliances. The single-line diagram and commissioning report were handed over, and an annual service was set up for panel cleaning and connection checks.
